WELCOME!

Sooner or later, everyone goes to court. And if you are a writer, chances are you will want to put a courtroom scene in one of your works. If it is important for you to know what is going on in a courtroom then this is a good blog to look at. I am a novelist now but for over forty years, I was a trial attorney. (Not to be confused with lawyers who describe themselves as "litigators." Some of them settle almost all of their cases, and rarely see a jury.) I've tried cases in civil and criminal courts, state and federal. I've also tried cases in military courts. I've been an acting judge and an arbitrator. I've seen in-court action from every angle and I want people to know what really goes on in the courtroom.

Frankly, there's a lot of misinformation and myth out there in the entertainmedia and it's doing none of us any good. I welcome questions and comments. Feel free to ask for help. I'm not going to give you legal advice, but you can think of me as a local. Don't be shy about asking directions.
